A Future not our own

There are some crazy things happening here. The year is 2015, its the 2nd day of the 7th month. I speak in this ancient way because I want you to know this is a documentary.

The world is currently crazy. It feels like we are at a weird point in history. To me, history only goes so far as back to the 1700s...the only account of history I know before that point was through Shakespeare. What happened those years? Between Roman history and the death of Christ, his apostles' evangelization, and the collapse of the Roman Empire, there seems to be a huge blackout in history. I believe they call it the Dark Ages?
We are definitely not in the Dark Ages now. But neither is it bright. It just seems splattered with all sorts of colours. What with the homosexual marriage legalization, its definately streaks of colour. But is it bright?

It seems as though along with all the technology, and globalization, in spite of us feeling closer to each other from opposite ends of the world, we are definitely seperated. There is a dominant force in the world, and it seems as if the dominant force is governed by solely evil forces. Whatever is influenced by pure forces is shunted, diminished or deemed unimportant. I see one theme splashed across the canvas of today, apart from the many colours, and that is self-gratifaction.

It seems as if self-gratification is the solution our world has to all of its problems. If you are lonely, find a companion to spend the night with. If you are depressed about not having a companion, you shouldn't be because you are an independant person (or you should be). If you are depressed about not being able to be an independant person....you may drink or engage in meaningless self-gratifying sex or other kinds of indulgence to fill that hole. But the hole doesn't get fixed. The world's solutions are not really solutions anymore..

There used to be a time when people looked to the spirits. When they believed in something bigger and greater than themselves. There are still people like that. We just don't know about them. There's no room for blind faith in today's world, it just doesn't seem to fit. Why? Because we are afraid it will outshine the rest of the colours on the canvas. Because pure bright white light will definitely drown out the spectrum of colours already thrown there. But why is this such a bad thing?

There's more. Not only will the light drown out the other colours, it will encompass them all, resulting in what seems like a single light, a single path to follow. No more doing your own thing, no more to him his own way...there will be one way. And no one will like that way, because its way is not of self-gratification. Its way is unfortunately, the difficult way out of our problems. Its self-sacrifice.

But we do not have time, nor patience, to allow the white light to take over. We do have desire, yes, every human being desires a solution to their problems which will be there to stay, which transends all other solutions, which leaves them in peace, at rest. But its too difficult to achieve, so we don't even try. Besides, there is no garuntee it will work, right?

So we as human beings settle into enjoying our current rainbow-looking canvas of life. There are so many different colours, and they are beautiful! And whenever someone brings up the white light, we'll ignore it, or turn our backs and canvas another direction, so no one can see it. In the meantime, we'll try to be brothers and sisters, we want to be united.

But how can we be united if we have so many different colours on the canvas? Yes. We DO come from different countries and different cultures, but do we come from different beings? No. We are all the same! We are all looking for the same thing, we all desire peace, and love, intimacy, security. We all desire to be loved and we all enjoy giving out our love. Materialistic things like DNA, skin colour, gender, sexuality, identity, culture, food, language, it doesn't seperate us so much that we must have several colours on the canvas..the very essence of our being, human beings, that should unite us! I'm sure most people will agree that we have souls. So why is it so hard to understand that humanity cannot live in peace unless we have one colour on the canvas, one white, pure, bright shining light.

Of course, the dominant culture is the only voice we hear of in this world . I bet you all the artifacts you have from 2015 indicate this. North America and the European colonies have steered the entire globe into one direction. Sometimes so strongly that they show you several colours on the spectrum, but all you see is blackness. Darkness. Was this why the Dark Ages were the Dark ages?

So if you want to know what life is like in 2015, well its very confusing. The Music industry is failing, its changed from pure talent and brilliance to beats and annoying repetition. Man relies more on himself than his brother and neighbour. It feels as if people are more selfish these days than they ever were. But let me tell you, this is not true. Humans have always been the same throughout the ages. We're all trying to get by, and the important part is that we are trying. There are a few of us who see nothing but black on that canvas. I call that depression, and I blame the world for it. Then there are the majority of us who claim life is beautiful and confusing when they see the many different colours on that canvas. And then, there is another population of beings, how many, I don't know...I couldn't say. I'd like to think its more than I imagine. Another population, who stand simply in awe of the bright and beautiful white light, and allow it to engluf them, and carry them into another realm...they see a world greater than themselves, and a future not their own.
