Science Vs. Religion

Are you Pious??? I am too! If yes, well then recall your religion's creation story! I'll recall mine: So God created the earth in 7 days, and created Adam and Eve.
Are you a science freak? Well so am I! Recall the big bang theory! The earth and the universe was created by the big bang, ( massive falls of fire and hot lava formed planets and other celestial bodies- formed because of immense heat energy).

Howwwww is she both for religion and science you might ask? Well that's something we could debate on forever. The fact still remains, that no matter what we do, human beings will NEVER be able to answer one of the greatest questions of all time. How was our universe created!

Beautiful, isn't it? :) Quite so.

WHY do we believe in a God?
Almost every human being chooses to believe in the greater being, the supreme intelligence, or in simple words, a God. But why??? As far as my limited knowledge in psychology goes, it is human nature to feel isolated. Human nature to feel secure only with the presence of a routine. Human nature to feel secure only with a knowledge that they have someone greater than them, to watch out for them.
Take yourself for an example. Imagine a world without parents, mayors, managers, or presidents. Utter chaos. Everyone needs a leader, and ever leader needs a leader, and as long as you are human, you will need a leader too. I guess we just want to know that our actions are rewarded in some way, and our faults and failures condemned. We want to believe that there is a REASON to live for, to impress someone with our achievements, a role model to follow, a saving grace that will yank us out of the deepest ditches of sin we fall in. Someone to rule the world! God!
And he is the answer to everything! and he determines what is always right and what is always just unacceptable! and he brings justice to the world! Children want to believe there is someone that will punish the child that stole their lunch, teens want to believe there is someone that oversees the sinful behavior their peers demonstrate, adults want to believe there is someone to call out to for help in times of need.

We also believe in a God because of sacred texts presented to us in our various religions.
And because of our ancestral beliefs.
But it stops there...

Humans were created with a brain. And we will question. And we question. And we still question. And we won't stop questioning until we are satisfied. And we humans are never satisfied...
So our questions lead us to contradicting ideas from what our faith puts down for us. Our billions of questions have led us to the ultimate question- IS there a God? If yes, PROVE it!

Proof. That's what we want. And if that's what we want, that's what we are going to get.
Here's where science comes into play. Science has it's own set of answers to life's questions: where we came from- big bang theory. How we got here- evolution. Why we suffer?- body mechanisms. And so on.

And there is always that gap, don't you think? That one area where both Faith and Reasoning lose their essence. Where both Religion and Science aren't as meaningful. And to bridge that gap, all you need is them together!
So think about it logically and spiritually. What if we could get proof to our religious creation story? Maybe God created the heavens and the earth, and then we evolved? What if we were to combine and collaborate the two, in order for our science to have meaning, and for our religion to make sense!

We don't HAVE to take sides! We don't have to have conflicts! All we have to do is believe everything our faith tells us, and back it up with science. Use science to help you strengthen your faith! Instead of breaking it down..!
That is what my page is about. MY SCIENTIFIC SPIRIT talks about them both. Self explanatory. Combining both Science and Religion helps me understand life better.
It's a give and take method, really.

I stumbled upon this realization after reading Yann Martel's Life of Pi. Where the protagonist Pi conveys his message using the means of both, religion AND science, to create something wonderful- a story. A memorable story that doesn't make any sense, yet makes all the sense in the world.

And that's just it! The complex confusing idea that they are both right, is the simplicity of it all! Stand up for what you believe in, and support it with facts.

That's what the war's about. Faith tells us God exists. Science is looking for proof. And Science has indeed found all the proof we need. It may not satisfy as, like I mentioned before, we are humans thereby we are never satisfied. But it is there.

And we still need a saving grace. We always will. :)

I Still haven't found..what I'm looking for

Have you ever wondered why we breathe the air we breathe? Why are we unfortunate periodically and yet generously blessed at other times? I decided to create a blog that records my ideas in my search to find why I love, why I breathe, and what my purpose is on . The meaning behind the name, "My Scientific Spirit" indicates that in this blog I'll be examining (Science) what the purpose of my existence (spirit) is. Sound wacko? Not really. Just a way to ease out and break off from your stress and busy schedules, and appreciate your lives a lot more.

Heard the song I still haven't found what I'm looking for by U2? They sound out what my deepest feelings are:

 "I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields

      Only to be with you

I have run I have crawled

I have scaled these city walls
      These city walls
     Only to be with you

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for"

Habitually we live every day of our lives in a routine. It is human nature to show concern for purely its own bare necessities, after which he forgets to look at the greater picture. We forget to see a situation as a whole. To find its brighter side. To find a silver lining.

Pessimists will fail to see the beauty far beyond the ugly saxophone guy. Maybe, just maybe, we were put on earth for a reason. One that we won't discover until we breathe our last breath. However, if Buddha attained enlightenment, if Po from the Kung Fu Panda achieved inner peace, and if Hindus can attain nirvana, then so can we! Science Vs. Religion turns out to be a favourite topic of mine, that follows next. Feel free to add on your ideas.

Until then- SILVER LINING PEOPLE !!!
